Tomorrow is Labor Day, and for many of us, that means the end of summer. The first day of fall technically is not until September 23 (our wedding anniversary!) but, I always associate summer's end with Labor Day.

Today I thought I'd share some of the things we loved this summer. Last summer, Zack couldn't walk, so we really didn't spend a whole lot of time outside. I can recall that my way to waste time was to put away his laundry. We'd spend a few hours in his room, a few in the living room, repeat over and over. When we did go outside, it was mostly him sitting on a mat or in his stroller.

Well, with toddlerhood has come a whole new way to experience summer. He is on the move, and is so intrigued by anything outside, from pine cones to airplanes. I had a blast this summer just watching him.

Here are some of the things we loved listening to

Music

Albums

  • Kelly Clarkson, Chemistry (album)

  • Taylor Swift, Speak Now Taylor's Version

  • Renee Rap, Snow Angel

  • Barbie Soundtrack

  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Soundtrack (Zack's pick)

We also listened to the Era's Tour playlist a lot and basically any Taylor Swift Song. Zack's favorite Taylor songs include The Man, Out of the Woods, and You Need To Calm Down.

Podcasts

  • Girls Just Pod To Have Fun

  • Black Aunties Gang

  • Crime Junkies

  • Armchair Anonymous

Here's what we enjoyed watching:

TV Shows:

  • The Summer I Turned Pretty (Amazon Prime)

  • Vanderpump Rules (there was so much hype around the scandals I had to watch- I am only on season 2 though so no spoilers!)

  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Miss Rachel, Bluey, Dino Ranch, and Trash Talk (Zack's picks).

Movies:

  • Barbie. I want to see it again soooo badly.

  • Toy Story, Cars (Zack's picks).

Here's what we enjoyed doing:

  • Era's Tour

  • Visiting different parks around town (Innovation Hills in Rochester was our favorite)

  • Troy Aquatic Center

  • Royal Oak Library, a frequent stop for us. We often see friends there, too, which is a bonus!

  • Church on Sundays

  • Troy Nature Center

  • Bower's Farm

  • Trip to Traverse City

  • Saturday night movie nights

  • Water table play

  • Wagon rides and walks

  • Running- I ran so much this summer! And I ran through my two favorite artists entire discography.

  • Cara's birthday party water balloon fight

I look forward to spending many more summers with Z and seeing what other adventures lie ahead of us. I am NOT looking forward to the days where he doesn't want anything to do with me, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'll enjoy the here and now.
