Dear Me;
Happy Birthday. It has come to my attention that you have some thoughts swirling around your head that aren't quite true. Let's address them.
You don't think you should be celebrated. What's true is that you very much deserve to be celebrated. You are a kind, loving, generous person and you have every right to be celebrated and to celebrate YOU. It is not selfish to want time to yourself, or to take a break from work or from "moming". You have so much to celebrate. Every ounce of you is worth celebrating.
You think you are alone because you don't have a "group" of friends. What's true is that you have so many people that love you and enjoy being part of your life. You have collected incredible friendships from childhood to right now. Connection matters to you. And while you don't have a set "group", you have a whole squad of people cheering you on.
You think you should have accomplished more by now. What's true is that you have climbed many, many mountains and accomplished so much. You've done much more than you ever thought you were capable of. There is no place you "need" to be right now. This is exactly where you were meant to be. You've built and incredible life for yourself.
Take a moment and remember the 7 year old version of yourself. You would want her to be celebrated, right? You would want her to know how deeply loved and special she is. She wants the same for you.
So no, you don't have to do anything "extra special" on your birthday. It does not have to be some grand to do with cake and ice cream and balloons. Instead, celebrate with gratitude. For who you are, who you have been, and who you are yet to become. There is so much more unfolding for you. And you deserve all of it. On this birthday, and all the birthdays to come.
